Choosing Single Beds

While you may think that shopping for single beds isn’t really all that special to require much thought, you may actually need to spend time considering which one to actually get. After all, it takes center stage in your bedroom, so you would want something that would be pleasing to the eye. Furthermore, the bed is where you get your rest in, and it’s your very own personal comfort zone. Like it or not, you do spend a lot of time on it, so it makes sense that you make a bit of an effort in choosing which of the available single beds you will be getting for your bedroom.

First, you need to consider size. Do not be misled into thinking that all of these have the same lengths and widths just because these pieces of furniture fall under the single beds label. While the common size of single bedsteads is 90 cms. x 190 cms., there will inevitably be beds that will fall outside that. Check whether the bed can accommodate the size of the person who will be using it as well, since it would not do to get single beds that are too short or too narrow for the sleeper. If the more common ones are too small for you but you think that the standard doubles are too large, you might want to consider the small doubles bed to get the size in the middle of the two. You also need to consider the size in conjunction with the available space that you have in your home. If you are looking for two single beds in a small bedroom, you can opt instead for a bunk bed to conserve space.

Next, consider the material that the bed is made of. The most common ones are wooden single beds, leather single beds, and metal single beds. All three have their advantages and disadvantages, including the different prices these have. Try to list down the features you are looking for in your ideal bed and compare their characteristics to determine which of these would be ideal for you.

You will also need to consider function. True, beds are there mainly to be slept on, but there are other beds that boast of other features. For example, loft beds are similar to bunk beds, but instead of having another bed at the bottom, it has storage space or a work area.

You might be surprised to know that style is the last thing you need to consider when choosing single beds. While this is not unimportant, the other factors take higher priority over the way it looks. Nonetheless, you need to pick a bed that will not clash with your bedroom’s design so that the overall look would be pleasing to the eye. Most single bedsteads already include a headboard, a footboard, and slat supports for the mattress. However, in case you’re considering buying these items separately, you will need to make sure the actual bed frame does not clash with these.

Shopping will be a breeze once you know what you’re looking for in single beds.
